Sophia & Tim came all the way from Texas to scenic Switzerland for their Waldhaus Sils Maria wedding, to pay tribute to Sophia’s Swiss roots and say their ‘I do’s’ in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, the Engadin Valley. Sophia had always dreamed of getting married at this historic hotel, ever since falling in love with its old world charm and sweeping staircase, while on holiday when she was 12.
After a morning of exciting preparations, guests from all over the world piled into a series of horse-drawn carriages, and were taken on a journey through the forests and picturesque landscapes of the Fex Valley. Passing hikers cheering the couple on as they went by, and the look of pure contentment on Sophia & Tim’s faces as they took in the scenery was priceless. The couple chose the 15th Century Fex Chapel (also know as the Fex Crasta) for their ceremony, drawn to it because of its incredible frescoes and breathtaking setting. It was important to the couple that their friends and family also be involved in the wedding ceremony and speeches – and it was especially important to them for this to be captured.
After the moving ceremony, guests soaked up the views at the Hotel Sonne Fex for cocktail hour, before heading back to the Waldhaus for a night that included some brilliantly funny, emotional speeches. Some of my favourite moments through out the day were the cardboard cut-outs of absent friends randomly appearing – a special way of including people who couldn’t make it to Switzerland – such a cool idea!
